often register as Republicans to vote in the Republican primaries. The problem with that is one, about half of those said they'd be voting for the most reasonable Republican choice, and the other half said they'd vote for the most extreme in the hopes that would then move people to vote for the Democrat in the general election. The two groups essentially cancelled each other out. The other problem was that the vast outnumbering of registered Republicans to registered Democrats in the state meant that all too often there seemed to be no point in Democrats running for local or even state wide offices.

Let each party decide who it wants to nominate. Just work very hard for Democrats, and maybe even run for office yourself.
