2. The "local control is best" gang is working overtime.

Every session the Idaho legislature does their best to nullify larger (think bluer) cities' efforts to benefit their own citizens.

Several years ago, Boise tried enacting a plastic bag ordinance. The legislature made sure that wouldn't happen again. If I remember correctly, that "adjustment" only applies to cities with populations over 100k.

In the last 20 years or so, they've been making the citizen initiative process more difficult by enacting increasingly more restrictive signature, timing and proportion requirements. Soon enough, that process will exist on the books in name only.

On and on and on and now this. I'm sure the guv will be signing off on this. Can't have them big city commies disrupting the intentions of the good ole boys from the likes of Hayden, Council or Preston.

I certainly don't live in Idaho because of the politics and every year it's a big relief when the leg finally adjourns.
