Pritzker scores $820 million green fuel investment for Illinois [View all]
Avina Clean Hydrogen Inc. will build an $820 million sustainable aviation fuel facility in southern Illinois, in the latest investment as Governor J.B. Pritzker moves to position his state as a center for new technologies and clean energy.
The investment announced Thursday will generate at least 150 new jobs, but the company is still working to finalize the location for the facility, a spokesperson for Pritzker said. Avina will get about $38.2 million in incentives from the states Reimagining Energy and Vehicles incentive program.
Pritzker has focused on bringing technologies of the future to the state, including the new quantum and microelectronics park in Chicago as well as electric vehicle and battery manufacturing.
New Jersey-based Avinas facility will aim to produce up to 120 million gallons of sustainable aviation fuel annually, to be used at nearby airports including OHare International Airport.
