Notes in the midst of Disaster Capitalism: Kansas in Name Only [View all]

The Republicans are quickly enacting their plans to remake the way Kansas does business. They believe domination of the state government will facilitate their goals for an overhaul of Biblical proportions.

Passing laws willy-nilly with no one to say “No” is dangerous. Cramming regulatory and policy alterations through the process with lightning speed is irresponsible.

What is tragic is that this regime has sawed off the limb it is sitting on.

In their haste, Republicans have busted the budgets of the very entities that are supposed to enforce the law. The state police, highway patrol, courts, attorneys, jails, prisons, parole and all other levels of law enforcement have seen their budgets slashed to the bone.
