1. I must have had one BIG misunderstanding about house boats!

I honestly believed you wouldn't have to pay property taxes because the "house" you lived in wasn't on land. I thought all you owed was the fees that were charged by the port, dock, and whatever were charged to use the spot where you moored the boat.
