Poll Managers receive training ahead of Election Day [View all]

GULFPORT, Miss. (WLOX) - With Election Day less than a month away, several Poll Managers at the Harrison County Annex Building had in-depth training to make sure voting is a smooth process for everyone.

District 2 Harrison County Election Commissioner Becky Payne said training is a refresher for the veterans and gives the new managers the tools they need.

“It’s important because voters want to come in, get their ballot and vote and be gone and so if they know all the tools and have all the things that they need to make that happen, then the day goes by easier,” she explained. “Occasionally, we do have to stay a little longer if you have an affidavit ballot, but if they’ve been taught properly, then there won’t be any problems with that either.”

Payne said voting is important and if you can’t come out on Election Day, while there are regulations, absentee voting is available.
