1. I'm unsure how to think about this.

Retiring at 75 doesn't seem crazy to me for that work, given the benefit of a lifetime of accumulated wisdom, but it's also a really complex and technical job where age could easily cut both ways. I interact with a lot of people of that age group and would trust some but certainly not all of them to have the wherewithal they did in decades past with decisions of this importance.
