Abbott is proud that he has denied access to healthcare to several million Texans, with a rate for the uninsured at almost twice the national average. Women’s health clinics used to help the poor with basic medical services (and treated men also) but Texas Christians force the closure of close to 100 of them before Roe was overturned by cutting state budgets so drastically that those in rural areas especially could not survive. Most of them had never even performed an abortion. Once Roe was overturned, several other clinics closed, leaving poor women with no healthcare.

I guess those Christians thought Jesus didn’t mean them when he admonished his followers to care for the poor.
