4. I guess being raised in a city creates different expectations.

We would never ever have left our belongings in the car overnight when traveling. My friend that lived in Santa Cruz never locked up her house, but I always thought that was totally crazy. It was never a problem for her, but she was lucky to live where she did.

We traveled every year and theft was not an issue. Corrupt policeman and right wing haters at rural places, along with incompetent drivers, and traffic traps are the dangers of traveling, IMO.
