5. I had the opportunity to wait in the car at Costco yesterday in 95* weather. Excruciating!

It’s not common sense they are lacking. My guess is that this woman felt she had no choice. No place for the child, no money to pay fo summer childcare. We have no social safety net here and tragedy strikes hard.
