U.S. Sen. Gillibrand to address Harris tax plan in Charlotte on Tuesday [View all]

U.S. Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand of New York will join Charlotte Councilwoman Dimple Ajmera and local parents in Charlotte on Tuesday to highlight the Harris-Walz plan to cut taxes for working families.

The speakers will discuss Vice President Kamala Harris’ framework for more than 100 million Americans to get tax relief, according to the campaign.

Part of this plan includes restoring the American Rescue Plan’s expanded Child Tax Credit, which would provide up to $3,600 per child tax credit for middle class families. The initial policy was implemented in 2021 and expired at the end of that year.

In addition to reinstating the policy, a Harris administration would also seek to expand the Child Tax Credit so that families with newborn children receive a $6,000 tax cut, according to the campaign.
