Penn State calls ‘absurd’ a claim that it manipulated student’s hazing death to acquire fraternity house

“These allegations are baseless and patently absurd,” the university states in a brief filed Monday in U.S. Middle District Court.

The document was filed in support of Penn State’s motion to dismiss the complaint against it and three officials by the property owner, Alpha Upsilon Chapter of Beta Theta Pi Inc.

The university on March 30, 2017, permanently banned the fraternity, saying the investigation into Piazza’ death uncovered a pattern of illegal activity, hazing and illegal drug use.
