Wet weather blamed for mail-in ballot envelopes arriving sealed [View all]

SWATARA TOWNSHIP, Pa. — Some Dauphin County voters have received mail-in ballot envelopes that are already sealed despite them only having just recently been sent out.

The reason why? Blame the weather.

Dauphin County Registration & Elections Director Chris Spackman said in a statement that the county "has been made aware that some of the mailed ballots that were delivered to voters have arrived pre-sealed due to the excessive moisture in the air caused by the continued rainfall in our region over the past week."

The solution, Spackman said, was to neatly open the envelope or envelopes and reseal them with tape when they're ready to be returned to the Board of Elections.
