Memphis man charged in Capitol riot indicted as part of group [View all]

Matthew Bledsoe, a Memphis man charged in the Jan. 6 insurrection and riot at the U.S. Capitol, is being indicted jointly with three other Tennessee men who participated in the riot.

Bledsoe, 36, appeared by video Friday, March 12, before U.S. District Judge Beryl Howell.

He initially was charged with knowingly entering or remaining in a restricted building without lawful authority and violent entry and disorderly conduct on Capitol grounds. Bledsoe was released on his own recognizance after his arrest by the FBI at his Memphis home Jan. 15.

At Friday’s hearing, the court said Bledsoe would be indicted along with Jack Jesse Griffith and Eric Chase Torrens, both of whom Bledsoe met online, and Blake Austin Reed of Nashville, who attended Germantown High School with Bledsoe.
