8. I was finally attacked by fire ants this June

It had been raining and the road medians had hip high weeds. Hubby cut them back with a sickle, and I was putting up campaign signs. After cutting the weeds, hubby went home. It was the night before the runoff. I thought I had stepped in stickers. I saw fire ants. They were up to my knee. I ran to my car. Took my shoes off and drove home barefoot. I couldn't wear shoes for a month. It was just awful.

We have a few alligators in the San Antonio area. There's a small natural lake here at the confluence of the Medina and San Antonio Rivers. They live there and also in some man made lakes. They rarely venture north on the Medina or SA River though. They like the lake.

We also have alot of rats around here....
