But the indolence of their parents, their aunts, their uncles, their older cousins and, even now, some of their older brothers and sisters are what got Texas made into a Republican trifecta. They could have voted. If they needn’t have had to be fully-informed: they could have made themselves a five-issue short list. They could have asked themselves what was in it for them or if that white guy running for office was blowing smoke instead of treating elections like a long, drawn-out boring version of American Idol, but they didn’t.

And here we are today with Gregg, Dann, and Ken in Austin, Ted in the senate, and Chip as their congressman.
