But that doesn't address the problem. The number of lost votes will never been fully quantified, but when there is a long line, at least 1 in 10 who are confronted with the line just go home.

Time is money. Lines and having to take time to hunt for your proper voting location is an intolerable poll tax.


The ONE national reform I would like to see when sane people have the majorities. A Lines = Fines bill. Any jurisdiction that under-allocates resources or otherwise mismanages their elections in such a way that voters are subjected to lines of more than 30 minutes needs to face substantial fines -- fines that cost them a lot more than whatever they may have saved. And with that, there need to be standards for the maximum drive time to a ballot drop box or polling place.
