ever since my "birthday storm" in 2011 when we had no power for 4.5 days and it was hotter than dammit. I don't need it to power the whole house, just the fridge, freezer, stove, and pump for the well. As long as I can cook and keep food safe, we can read by oil lamp and charge the phones in the cars.
