As former Snohomish County sheriffs, we don’t agree on everything, but we are united in our steadfast belief that the role of sheriff is to protect the safety of all residents with integrity and fairness; free of politics or ideology. While as individuals we may align as Democrats, Republicans and independents, we are proud to endorse Susanna Johnson to be Snohomish County’s next sheriff. Johnson has the leadership, experience, integrity and commitment to public safety and community the county needs right now.

Each of us has had the privilege of working alongside Johnson during our time at the Sheriff’s Office. Her work ethic and proven leadership skills are needed to successfully address challenges inside the department, and the strategic vision to address the issues facing law enforcement agencies. In her 33-year law enforcement career, she has built relationships and partnerships that improve safety and peace of mind. Her integrity and exceptional reputation are built on the trust and respect she has earned with her peers and leaders across the region.

Snohomish County needs a sheriff who is willing to tackle difficult problems, not with partisan rallies, self-serving videos and inflammatory social media posts, but with action. We need a greater focus on professionalism and common-sense safety solutions. The Sheriff’s Office needs a leader who can ensure the safety and well-being of all Snohomish County residents, while improving staffing and morale within the office.

It’s time for a change in leadership at the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office and Susanna Johnson is the change we need!
