It's definitely a pariah. What should be incorporated in these parts are point source generation, it would alleviate grid issues in remote locations, in highly populated areas too.

I was trying to buy a place, a business, out in a remote area a couple years ago and had written point source generation systems into the BPlan. Would have been a prototype for others to see and, hopefully put to use on ranches. I think that would be the best way to go, large wind farms take too large a toll on the avian wildlife. Smaller units spaced out and at lower elevation from the ground that function in variable winds is the way to go, there are some good designs that have solar panels incorporated into them (hybrids) and the come with power storage for a reasonable price. Beats the hell out of current dirty power regardless of the sources used which require mining of one kind or another.
