Tennis Legend Says if Australia Legalizes Same-Sex Marriage 'There Will Be No Christmas' [View all]

Retired international tennis legend Margaret Court is now warning if her homeland of Australia allows same-sex couples to marry, it will be the end of holidays like Christmas, Easter, and Mother's and Father's Day.

Court, who became a Christian minister after retiring, in recent years has seen her support in Australia dwindle over her acerbic and extreme anti-gay views. Some have petitioned to have her name removed from Australia's Margaret Court Arena in Melbourne’s Olympic Park over her views, which include her threat to stop flying Qantas after its CEO announced support for marriage equality.

Late last week Court denounced those who support same-sex marriage, claiming they are trying to silence those who do not. (U.S. activists and those who closely fooled America's path to marriage for same-sex couples know this "silencing the Christians" claim is a charade.)

“I think it’s sad. You don’t have the freedom of speech today to really defend yourself,” Court, lamenting she had not been re-elected to a tennis club as a vice-patron, told The West Australian. “It’s a sad day for our nation when it comes to that.”
