Rod Culleton, the newly-elected senator for One Nation, may have been elected illegally. At the time of the election, he was facing larceny charges, for stealing a key from a truck driver (no, I don't know why).

Although the charges were later dropped, what matters is that at the time of the election, they still stood, and his election may have been illegal under Australian law. So the case will now be heard in the High Court, who will decided whether he has a right to sit in the Senate or not. He says he will represent himself, but as you see, he is something of a nutjob, so who knows how that will pan out?
