Alberta was an original taker province until it got lucky with oil.

Now it wants to continue polluting its way to wealth, climate be damned. They did not invent anything for that wealth. They did not buy and sell stuff for profit. They did not grow it. They did not manufacture it. Granted there is hard work to get it out of the ground, but not proportionately for the wealth. That wealth is Canadian.

Good points about education and employment insurance. You could also add in health care for elderly people who have dispersed to other provinces. Alberta is not known as a retirement destination.
