I am a classmate with Senator Kirk Watson and I know that Kirk, Wendy Davis, Leticia van de Putte and others proposed numerous amendments designed to make the law less discriminatory and these amendments were tabled because the sponsors wanted a very restricted law to keep Democrats from voting.
