7. A friend built one out of wood. Very strong on account of a hungry dog.

I have some sturdy cardboard boxes that are tall and skinny. Meant for long-sh and skinny-ish power tools.
The bag takes all the abuse.

FWIW, I am single and make very little food waste, so that goes into one of the recyclable plastic bags (soon to be banned in CA, goodness ) I compact or recycle the rest. Not enough waste to even hire a weekly pickup.

When I read "Walden." I had no idea I'd be living like that, many years later.
