3. Check login items under Users & Groups in System Preferences

Click the Apple icon at top left of your monitor.
Select System Preferences
Click on Users&Groups in that window.
Select your account under Current User on the left
Select Login Items at the top of that window
If my suspicion is correct, you will see Excel there
Select it
Hit the "-" sign below
Close the window

You may need to click the lock at the bottom left of the screen and login to make changes.
