Classic iPod with lectures and music that I love has a dead battery. Apple can't help [View all]

and Mac Made Easy (local company) which I don't like to support because the owner is a winger, doesn't fix them any more.

I see how-tos on youtube but wondered if anyone knows how to avoid having to reset and lose all my goodies.
