Barack Obama
In reply to the discussion: Why do some people keep calling Obama "center-right"? [View all]leveymg
(36,418 posts)4. He's an institutional conservative
in the proper sense of the term. Almost his entire Presidency has been devoted is saving the Too Big to Fail global banks, big multinational corporations, and federal contractors from the consequences of decades of abuse and excess, or at least to bribe them into not taking their corporate HQ out of the US market. Manufacturing facilities, offices, jobs and profits are free to offshore - after all, he is a thoroughly conventional capitalist and Free Trader.
That's part of the reason he's called center-right. As far as economic, tax and trade policy are concerned, Obama is a moderate conservative.

It's about the time. If General Eisenhower were President now, he would be middle to center right.

As he was when he was elected. Eisenhower was no political ideologue in any sense.

Bullshit. Democrats are free to criticize from the Left. That's not trolling or even trollish.

Because they have confused libertarianism with liberalism. The LP and Paulies are using that tack.

And you couldn't give the rest of us - including the OP - credit for already knowing that?

Part of it is a combination of rising expectations and pent up demand from years of frustration.

Well, the Affordable Care Act is essentially the 1993 Republican Healthcare Plan.
