However, talking about 2020 (or not ruling it out) is not helping him much. It only brings out hate and/or disagreements from three sides of the aisle.

1. The Anti-Kerry sentiment among Dems, Liberals, Progressives
2. The GOP /Trump crowd
3. The people that genuinely like and respect him that think this is a bad idea

Before people will say that HRC, Biden, Sanders, Warren, etc get this too (though Biden and HRC seem tolerable because of the popular vote win and their relationship with Obama), Kerry needs to go the Gore route and focus on climate change and the environment.

He is already a respected statesman, and he (and the others above) under pressure to step aside and embrace the new faces of the Democratic Party.
