4. In Illinois I think Quinn just got blamed for the do-nothing congress.

Nothing major really got accomplished under his watch in spite of major control of both houses of congress, and he wasn't very good at touting himself (kind of blah as a candidate). I think his major selling point was being scandal free (after arresting most of our recent past governors). Otherwise he was a good governor.

Rauner was just good at touting himself, could fund his own campaign, and had the backing of some major players (Rahm for one). Also people in Illinois just do really stupid things sometimes. He'll be a one term governor. Everyone hates him now, even the Republicans.
