13. In my town

There were no mom and pop shops because there has been a housing boom and population explosion in the last 15 years.

We chased out the mountain lions and the eagles and brought Walmart along with us. Chick Fil A is the most popular restaurant in town. Lots of houses though and more all the time.

The nearest supermarket is pushing hard on the automation. They want me to order my stuff online or give my card information and scan as I go or if I must, check myself out. They will pull you out of line to check you out at the self checkout so badly do they want you to make the transition. I tried New Seasons and the Whole Foods, but they aren't really..large.

I love Winco, which is employee owned operated and about 7 miles away.
We do our weekly shopping there, but yeah. I do darken Walmart's door if I need an item or two. Not gonna lie.
There are a ton of employees and they seem really happy and the place is clean and well stocked. And it's close.
I don't otherwise like Walmart but this one is actually kind of fun.
