I'm making the jump over the next few months [View all]

I will be phasing meat out of my diet. This is for health issues. My current meat consumption comes mostly from local farmers who use more humane treatment in how they are raised.

(Let's not argue the humane part. Of course death isn't humane but there's a huge difference in small scale to feed lots.)

Anyway, I'm at an age where my health needs to be taken in hand. I was a lacto-ovo vegetarian back in the 90s and even spent 18 months as a vegan. I stopped when I was pregnant and had horrible nonstop red meat cravings. Now my child is grown and I'm ready to go back.

Just posting to see what's here and let everyone know I might stop in from time to time. I plan to be lacto-ovo again. I have great local sources for both and I used to make my own dairy products out of local raw milk. I'll also consume honey on occasion because I want to support a fantastic local bee keeper who puts her proceeds back into caring for more bees.

Anyway, storytime over.
