3. Assuming it's all true, and Greenland is so important for international safety

and security, what's wrong with leaving it under the protection of another NATO member, Denmark? Why does the US have to own it? We have a large military base there and probably could negotiate to increase US presence - there used to be more bases in Greenland. The answer, of course, is that Greenland looks really huge - much bigger than it really is - on a Mercator projection map, which makes Trump's willy tingle. Also, it has mineral resources buried under hundreds of feet of ice.
