2. Rebuttal of what?

My thread wasn’t making an argument but pointing out that we will now have the two biggest mainstream newspapers in the US having an explicitly anti-trans bias.

1. I think my rebuttal is pretty good so I am going to share it here.
I hope no trans people get upset and if they do, give me a better explanation.

Babies are born with birth defects all the time. Sometimes they are born without arms or legs or a deformity in one of more. Sometimes they are born without the ability to see color or to see at all. Sometimes they are born with an inability to see certain things in the proper order, like with dyslexia. There are chromosomal abnormalities, auto-immune abnormalities. Brain abnormalities.

What on earth would make you think that an abnormality where the genitals and hormones are not synchronized with the identity of the brain is a character defect or has anything to do with character or sexual deviancy when all these other abnormalities are a matter of biology? Transsexuality is nothing than an abnormality between the brain's sexual identity and the corresponding sexual organs of the body.

I’m not upset so much as confused on what you are arguing?

Who here is saying that being trans is a character or sexual deviancy? Mostly it is transphobes saying that. That said, when a person is born different in ways that cause problems we as a society find ways for them to function and find happiness. People with Dyslexia (including myself) learn how to cope, people born with poor eye sight get glasses, people with missing limbs get prosthesis, people with disfigurements get plastic surgery, and trans people transition so that our bodies can better match who we are.

Are you saying that we are claiming being transgender isn’t biological? Being trans is both biological and social as is gender itself. There are studies showing that trans people have areas of their brains that both resemble and function more like the brains of the sex they identify as than the one they are assigned.

I apologize but I don’t get what you are arguing? I don’t see anything that I would argue against other than to say I would word your post a little differently as referring to anyone as defects/abnormalities can feel insulting /dehumaninng which I don’t think is your intention?
