the article describes guns elevate the possibility of death and injury. I've talked to gun owners here on DU who say, 'That will never happen to me, not in my home'. Yet no one who goes into a gun store ever thinks while they are filling out the paperwork that, 'You know, I just might be really really sad someday because of something that happens, or someday I'm going to have bad day at work and she just won't shut the fuck up.'

Whatever frame of mind you are in when you buy that gun, no matter how stable you are at that moment in time things can and do change. A gun lasts forever.
