I looked at the main ingredient in Biotene and other substances that help dry mouth and found it was Xylitol that was the common important ingredient.

So I got a bag of Xylitol at the grocery store and I pour it into little plastic containers or glass containers and keep it by the bed and the couch and in my purse. I then just stick my finger in my mouth to wet it and dip it in the Xylitol and then lick my finger again and I've got a dose of Xylitol in my mouth that doesn't cost a fortune. I use as much as I want because it is very cheap to do.

I use small containers and small amounts since I don't want to keep using it after sticking my fingers in several times.
