1. Same with polio eradication

Both were within reach, but regional civil war, worldwide economic turmoil and impact on resources, and arguably for at least Guinea worm, climate change are having a tremendous impact.

Meanwhile, measles elimination (no, not eradication) looks more and more out or reach, thanks to vaccine objectors and failure to maintain momentum in efforts across the world.

I really wanted Pres. Carter to see Guinea Worm eradication during his lifetime. It will be very difficult now.
