Oils are absolutely necessary for health, like in absorbing nutriants, but it's important to deal with the kinds of oils. Palm oil is fairly high in saturated fats and is often seen as a nono by nutitionists. It may have some good qualities and a less saturated oil may replicate those.

Much of this you may already know, like the relationships between fat and fiber, but it really helps to talk to a registered dietician who has separated the science from the myth already. And realizes that there are significant differences between individuals and how they deal with nutrients.
