We don't have a dementia or death group........I think we should have both, JMHO [View all]

as my husband of 44 years did die of late term dementia today. Had the damn disease for about 4 years, he died this morning at 9:15 or so……I missed his passing by 15 minutes. We all knew it was coming, he hadn’t eaten or really drank anything for 3 days or so. I felt so lucky to at least feel the cooling of his body. Was at least there for that. Funny how you can feel the warmth of his alive body pass into the cold of his death. I have been missing him for at least the last year or so. He forgot a ton of stuff and I couldn’t carry on a conversation with him for a long time. It’s just so sad what that damn disease does to a person. I’m alone now for real without him. He was mentally gone but his death is so permanent and total now.
