9. A few years ago prior to my back surgery my doctor suddenly cut my pain meds in half.

It was around the time that there was a huge backlash against narcotics. I was on quite a bit of oxycodone/OxyContin at the time. I knew that beyond the pain I’d experience I’d also have some level of withdrawals. That was when doctors who prescribed beyond what some central authority specified would get in trouble. Fortunately (for that specific time) I called my cancer doctor and she agreed to reinstate my full prescription. I think doctors who specialize in cancer treatment have special disposition Also fortunately when I had my surgery my pain almost completely went away.
