In our state needles are put in plastic containers such as a pickle jar. Hope22 Monday #5
I bought red Sharps containers when I had my diabetic (3 shots a day) dog. Then turned them in at our sinkingfeeling Monday #6

I think that special collection boxes are the way to go. In my case the pharmacy is CVS question everything Monday #8
