Experts with decades of experience have been let go. How many of them do you suppose took early retirement when it was offered/forced upon them?

I know a former federal employee (in a different branch of service) who gave notice of retirement immediately after the election. When the boss said, “Hey you might be able to take advantage of this new program!” the response was simple & short, “Nope, not interested.”

How long will it take to develop new expertise? How long will it take to rebuild trust?
