"Wellington Paranormal" on HBO Max [View all]

This funny series from New Zealand is apparently a spinoff from the vampire comedy What We Do in the Shadows. Filmed as a reality show mashup between Cops and Ghost Hunters, it follows officers O'Leary and Minogue as they investigate bizarre events in Wellington neighborhoods under the direction of their paranormal-obsessed sergeant, who maintains a secret office behind a bookcase for their mission briefings. O'Leary is the skeptical Scully to Minogue's doofus version of Mulder but O'Leary winds up believing after the first few minutes in each episode as they tackle 70s party ghosts, zombies, demonic possessions, blood-bank vampires and clone-happy aliens. Some of the funniest moments have the officers speaking nonchalantly to the camera as crazy things, like a cow being tractor-beamed into a flying saucer, play out in the background. If you're looking for some well-done goofy fun, this series is worth checking out.
