Dermatomyositis is sometimes overlapped by Lupus and other disorders. My son was diagnosed in 1991 with Dermatomyositis. His symptoms were a very slow progression of muscle weakness, fatigue and rash. I have Lupus in the family and the rash was what made me request specific blood test only to be denied until it was almost to late.
