feeling discriminated against by my local campaign office on the basis of my disability [View all]

apologies if this is the wrong place to post this, i don't want to spam general discussion.

i don't have HIV but rather ME/cfs, which is effectively AIDS, but without any treatment unless you can afford to see one of the few and far between specialists. I don't deal with much malaise anymore but do get sick with every infection which comes my way.

i'm really excited about volunteering for this election cycle, but i feel like i'm not being included, or even worse, have my contribution respected because of how unreliable my health renders me. i'm totally okay with the organizers focusing on the more productive volunteers, but it hurts like hell to be treated like i'm lazy, irresponsible, etc for something which is legitimately not my fault. i think half the trouble is my age: i am only in my mid20s but a longtime veteran of neuroimmune disease, and word on the block is that my entire generation is lazy, shiftless, and glued to their iphones (i don't even have an iphone).

i've communicated the problem with the organizers as clearly as i know how, so i guess it's up to them to understand as they will.

not looking for solutions here rather commiseration. sorry to hijack your forum!
