... for the first 6 months from hiring.
If they mess up in any way - disobeying rules, being rude, failing to help out when asked, whatever - they're gone and no questions asked. Of course the boss or manager makes the final decision, but new hires should always be on their toes and willing to help out. If someone is rude and unhelpful after only 3 weeks, that person is not a team player.
You did the right thing my friend. I'm sure the other employees are solidly behind you.
