that if you wore out your shoes in Amarillo, you couldn’t leave …. I moved there at the age of 12 with my family … (no choice) …. Left in 78 … moved back in 79 … left in 80 … moved back in 87 …. I bought a bunch of new shoes while there, being very careful to never wear anything out … left in 88 … have only been ack for brief visits … I knew no one where I moved to (Dallas) then moved to Austin … then california … and now have been in Missouri for 30+ years …

I have never regretted leaving Texas
