Bailey had refused to approve the price estimate, arguing that if the proposal were to succeed, it could cost the state as much as a million times more than that figure because of lost Medicaid funding or lost revenue that wouldn’t be collected from people who otherwise would be born.


I am gobsmacked! This has to be one of the lamest excuses ever for someone not doing their job.

On top of everything else, this dude is conveniently ignoring the costs to the government of forcing women to have babies they can't afford, many of whom will need public assistance to feed, clothe, and access health care for those children. But that's the Republican way: Always ignore any inconvenient facts that don't support your predetermined position.
