The hand mixer actually did a better job of that than the stick blender did, so I'm not too put out by not being able to find the damned thing. I know it moved with me, I just don't know what the fuck I did with it and being blind doesn't help.

As long as the leeks cook down, it's all good, chunky or smooth.
