I was just about to do some parmesan cheese, so timely tip.

There are also those graters where you put a piece of cheese in this little holder and turn the handle. Wow are those ever easy. Can't say I prefer it over hand grating but it's a nice option to have around the kitchen. Cleans up nicely in the D/W, too.

I have done the calculations and figured out that you save 50% by grating your own cheese. Prices based on Aldi.

Won't buy grated cheese because of all the stuff I've heard they put on it to keep it from clumping. If you grate it yourself when you need it, you don't have that problem. Of course, some people just wouldn't cook if they couldn't have that convenience.
